What's new in OpenBar. Follow along as we build your favorite bar.
Psst — each release wears its era. The chips
up top let you preview the bar in any of our six themes. The v1.3 card below
has its own chips — tap them to see just that release in another skin.
v1.4.1September 14, 2026Latest
Era:SpeakeasyTikiArcadeDive BarBreweryWine Bar
A Round of Polish
The count is right. Follower and following counts on every profile now show the real numbers instead of a pair of zeros.
Room to swipe. The hints on a Pour Stack card keep to their own side on smaller phones and at larger text sizes, so “skip” and “save” never run together.
Nothing new to learn. The Pour Stack release, a little smoother.
v1.4September 10, 2026
Era:SpeakeasyTikiArcadeDive BarBreweryWine Bar
The Pour Stack
A fresh lineup, dealt every night. Open Home and the Pour Stack hands you a short stack of cocktails picked for tonight. Swipe right to set one aside in Tonight’s Queue, left to skip, or tap to open the recipe.
Every card tells you why it’s there: poured from bottles you already own, one bottle away, a house signature, or something a friend poured recently.
Not feeling the lineup? Shuffle deals a whole new one. Premium pours shuffle as often as they like; the free bar gets one shuffle a night, back again at 4am.
Premium unlocks a longer stack and a nightly premium signature pour.
My Bar, Sharper
Bottle status. Mark anything Stocked, Low, or Out. An empty bottle drops out of what you can make, and a heads-up tells you when running dry blocks a drink you could otherwise pour, so you know exactly what to restock.
The whole menu counts now. “What can I make” and “one bottle away” reach every recipe in the book, not just the classics, so the right next bottle unlocks more than ever.
My Bar splits cleanly into Make (what tonight holds) and Manage (your shelves).
A Home That Reads the Room
The greeting and the cover pour shift with the hour and with the bar you’re in, so morning in the Speakeasy and midnight in the Tiki hut feel like different rooms.
The Pulse brings your friends’ latest pours onto Home, a glance at what the room is drinking.
The Speakeasy, redressed. A faint diamond trellis now papers the walls behind Home, Search, My Bar, and Profile, and the cards wear a double-line gold mat, like framed prints in a back room. The other five bars are untouched.
Top-ups
The swipe hints on a Pour Stack card sit on the side they describe: skip on the left, save on the right.
Long ingredient names fit inside the “Add” button on My Bar, and reason chips never run past the edge of a card.
Fixed a freeze after unlocking several badges at once.
The camera rests the moment you leave the Scan tab.
“A friend poured this last night” only says so when it means it; older pours read “recently.”
Shuffle never deals a pour you already set aside in Tonight’s Queue.
No more ad flicker for members while the app wakes up.
v1.3.4August 7, 2026
Era:SpeakeasyTikiArcadeDive BarBreweryWine Bar
Two Acts — Log & Check In
Log is for you. Check In is for everyone. Recording a drink is now two clearly different acts with two doors on Home: Log a Drink keeps it private in your Cocktail Ledger; Check In shares the moment to your Activity Feed. The button you tap is the privacy decision.
The old “share to feed” toggle is gone everywhere. A Log is always just yours; a Check In is always for the room.
Each act got its own form. The Log reads like a journal — rating and notes up front, location tucked behind a tap. Check In leads with the moment — location front-and-center, and your photo flows straight into AI drink naming.
On a recipe page, “I Made This” is now a pure Log — with a one-tap “Check In instead” handoff if tonight deserves an audience.
If you had “default check-ins to private” switched on, your private entries now simply appear as Logs. Nothing about their visibility changed — they were never in the feed, and they still aren’t.
The Ledger, Opened Up
Tap any entry in your Cocktail Ledger to open a full detail view — the act, your full note, the photo, and a View Recipe link when the pour came from the catalog.
New filter chips on the Ledger flip between everything, just your Logs, or just your Check-Ins.
Home’s history section now carries the Cocktail Ledger name — tap through to the full book.
On your Profile, the Ledger sits in its own History section, and the Crafted stat taps straight through to it.
Top-ups
Editing an entry no longer clears its location or changes who can see it.
Fixed a rare freeze after checking in when an achievement celebration video played.
The Scan tab resets cleanly after each session — camera up, ready for the next bottle.
v1.3May 11, 2026
Era:SpeakeasyTikiArcadeDive BarBreweryWine Bar
Six bars. One app. Your pick of the night.
Take it for a spin — tap a theme below to try it on for size. Only this card changes,
so you can flip through all six without losing your place.
Six Atmospheres
Six fully realized bar themes — Speakeasy, Tiki, Arcade, Dive Bar, Brewery, and Wine Bar. Each one transforms the entire app: photography, fonts, palette, cocktail imagery, signature recipes. Speakeasy is free for everyone. Premium gets all six.
An atmosphere chip in the top-left of Home opens a bottom sheet with every theme — tap to switch the whole room in one beat. Locked themes route to the unlock page; no menu-diving required.
Each bar has its own exclusive recipe collection. Tiki ships with island classics, the Wine Bar leans varietal, the Dive Bar pours short and stiff. 37 new recipes, themed signatures, and theme-tagged catalog filtering.
Live theme switcher right on this marketing site. Tap the chips at the top of the page (or in this card) to preview any theme — your pick persists across pages.
Tonight’s Lineup — the new Home
A single curated pour every night, hand-picked from your bar, your taste profile, and your active theme. Tap Pour It to start mixing in seconds — or Shuffle for a different idea (free users get one shuffle per night).
Tonight’s pick is cached locally per “bar day” (4 a.m.-local rollover), so it stays stable through the night and refreshes when the sun comes up.
Time-aware copy throughout: Good morning brews differently than Good evening. Each pour wears its hour.
A redesigned Home for v1.2 upgraders: the “What’s new in v1.3” card greets returning users with a quick tour, dismissible after a tap.
Welcome Flow
A new 6-step onboarding: welcome carousel → theme picker → taste profile (chip selector) → Three-Door Bar stocking (scan, pick from a 15-tile grid, or auto-seed) → scripted Tonight hero first-look → Find Friends.
Your taste preferences are captured in 30 seconds and inform every recipe suggestion thereafter.
Onboarding scans don’t count toward your free monthly limit. Stock your bar without burning your quota.
State persists across backgrounding — close the app mid-flow and pick up exactly where you left off.
Onboarding is fully ad-free. The App Tracking Transparency prompt only fires after you land on Home for the first time, so the welcome stays uninterrupted.
“On the House” — an achievement waits for you the moment you finish onboarding. Your first round is on us.
My Bar — Possibility Meter
A big number at the top of My Bar tells you exactly how many cocktails you can pour right now with what’s on hand. Updates instantly as you add bottles.
The One Bottle Away hint card surfaces the single best ingredient to add next — the one that would unlock the most new recipes. Tap to add, see the toast, watch the meter tick up.
The AI Menu Builder tile shows real-time progress: 0 makeable — stock your bar, 3/5 makeable — add 2 more to unlock, or 7 makeable recipes ready.
AI Menu Builder (Premium)
Describe an occasion — date night, dinner party, holiday, weeknight — and get a custom cocktail menu in seconds. Balanced for variety, built from your bar inventory.
Each menu comes with a bartender’s note explaining the curation choices, plus a per-recipe rationale for why it’s in the lineup.
Tune the output: cocktail count, difficulty mix, flavor emphasis, spirit variety. Save the result as a custom menu you can come back to.
Achievements
Eighteen new theme-exclusive achievement badges: three per bar, each with a custom prohibition-era celebration video. Some are visible from the gallery; six are secret until you trip the unlock condition.
Every achievement now has theme-aware copy — the same milestone reads differently depending on which bar you’re sitting in. 156 themed name + description pairs across the 26 badges and six themes.
Push notifications for achievement unlocks use the active theme’s voice too. No more “The Bootlegger unlocked” while sitting in the Tiki bar.
Search
Clear scope toggle at the top: Catalog (everything), My Library (saved + custom), Everything.
Adaptive filter chips that change with the scope — difficulty, spirit, flavor, time, theme — with sensible defaults for each view.
Find Friends
The final step of onboarding (optional, skip anytime). Match your contacts privately — phone numbers are hashed on your device with SHA-256, then matched against OpenBar’s user list. Your raw contacts never leave your phone.
Top community members surface as suggested follows, ranked by recent activity.
Invite friends who aren’t on OpenBar yet via iMessage with a single tap — we’ll reconnect you once they sign up.
Follow requests for private profiles: cancel, accept, or deny lifecycle with notifications on each side.
Premium
7-day free trial of OpenBar Premium — unlocks all six themes, the AI Menu Builder, unlimited AI scans, the full 300+ recipe catalog, and no ads. $4.99/month or $41.99/year after the trial.
A one-time celebration when you upgrade — a moment in the back room as you join the regulars.
Premium recipes drop the padlock indicator the instant you upgrade — clean cards, no reminders.
The notification cadence toggle in Preferences defaults to daily for premium, weekly for free — tune to your liking.
Don’t want the whole subscription? Buy a single themed bar, or unlock all five paid themes as a bundle. Speakeasy is free for everyone.
Top-ups
Password reset links now work reliably across every mail client — tap from anywhere and the app opens to your recovery flow.
The atmosphere chip ignores accidental double-taps during the sheet animation. One tap, one open.
Existing v1.2 users get an “On the House” achievement on first launch into v1.3 — welcome back.
Behind the Bar
Every screen reflects the selected theme without a reload. Switch atmospheres mid-pour.
Per-theme cocktail imagery — thousands of new hero shots across six themes, all optimized for the app.
Friend-finding uses on-device hashing — your contact list never leaves your phone.
Quiet, ongoing security work to keep your data safer than it was last release.
